Official Setup Guide

Step 1: Spotify account

To start, you need a Spotify Premium account that will be used for playing music that your guests can then influence via the voting. If you haven’t already, create a new Spotify account that is subscribed to Spotify Premium and not used by anybody else. Once the Spotify account has been set up, make sure to remember the login information for later.

Step 2: Pick controller device

Pick some device, a phone or tablet from which you want to control the music voting and set up Pyro. Most venues use a Tablet for this, but any mobile device from any company works. The only requirement is that the device needs to be easily accessible while you are operating the venue.

Step 3: Download Pyro app

3.1 Download the Pyro app on the controller device you chose in Step 2.

3.2 Create an account or sign in.

Follow the instructions in the app to create a new account. Make sure to

Use an email address you will have consistent access to. We recommend using a company email rather than a personal one from a team member.
Choose a username that represents your brand since your guests will see it. Most people simply use the name of the venue.

3.3 Connect your Spotify account

Use the Spotify account you created earlier and connect it to Pyro by entering the login information and giving the Pyro app access to your account.

Step 4: Create a party

4.1 Follow the instructions in the app to create a new voting party.

You can customize your party as you like and however you want your guests to perceive you when they join the voting.

4.2 Choose a starting playlist.

During the creation process, the app will prompt you to choose a playlist to start. This playlist will run in a loop at the start of your party and will act as the base. Your guests can then join and alter this playlist to their liking. So in the unlikely case that no guest does anything or nobody shows up, this playlist will simply play in the background.

Tips for choosing the right playlist:

Make sure the playlist contains songs you want to play at the venue
Make sure the playlist is large enough so offer variety You will be able to switch the playlist any time later on.

4.3 Test if the setup works

Follow the steps described on the screen to start the voting for a little test. If everything works as it should, after pressing play, you should see the song that is playing from your Spotify in the Pyro app.

Step 5: Invite guests.

Congratulations! You're done with the setup. Now you can start advertising your music voting to guests. For this, you can either use the QR-Code in the app or contact us for a custom solution such as a TV Mode or custom Poster designs.
